Preparing for your treatments
Its best if you don't have an empty stomach. I encourage you to eat a healthy snack or light meal within approximately 2-3 hours of any acupuncture treatment (Nuts, Snack bar, etc.). Wear loose, comfortable clothing from the knees to the toes and elbows to the fingers. Avoid sweets (Especially sugar and chocolate), and caffeine. Schedule appointments at least 1-hour after working out.
During your acupuncture treatment
Relax, slow down, and clear your mind. Enjoy the calming affects of your treatment. Feel free to take a little nap as many do.
After your acupuncture treatment
Drink plenty of fresh pure water. If you are able to, eat healthy food, like lightly steamed vegetables, salads, fruit, light soups, and hot whole grain cereals for breakfast, especially during the next day or so.
How many Appointments will I need?
The number of treatments will vary depending on the individual, the severity of their condition and how long the condition has been present. A good rule of thumb is to see me 3-4 times in the first two weeks to determine how well you are going to respond. We will discuss and decide the treatment plan that works best for you.
Do Acupuncture needles hurt?
Everybody is slightly different in there perception of the acupuncture needle. Some people may feel a slight prick as the needle penetrates their skin. Most patients feel and ache, warmth, or heaviness called “Da Qi”. This is a good thing and many patients feel deprived if they don’t feel this sensation.
Once you've experienced acupuncture you realize "It's not about needles & pain", and a whole new world of health and wellness options open up to you.
